Obituary

OREGON - Richard Shideler, age 80, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Noel Manor in Verona, Wis. He was born on October 13, 1945, in Bellevue Calif., to parents, Earl Richard Shideler and Johnnie Selma Dunn. Having U.S. Navy parents as a young man he moved around often.


Richard lived in Lake Zurich Ill., during high school. In 1975, he married Annette Smith, who preceded him in death in 2000. Richard worked hard as a salesman for 44 years in furniture and retail. After losing Annie, he spent most of his days at work at Steinhafels. He met and married Mary Giese in 2008. They enjoyed many trips, including Ireland and Jackson Hole, Wyo., and enjoyed seven years of spending a month in Florida.


Richard is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Jeanine McMannes of Stoughton and Stacy Pinion of Anthem, Ariz.; four sisters, Rebecca of Oklahoma, Deborah of Palatine Ill., Wilona of Columbus Mont., and Stephanie of Lake Zurich Ill.; and brother, Gary of Cary, Ill.


A celebration of his life will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service on Monday.


Richard will be remembered for his sense of humor and how much he loved to golf. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's name to the Oregon Food Pantry. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
