Leona M. Heuer

LACROSSE/OREGON-Leona M. Heuer died Tuesday, Sept. 26. 2017, with family at her side.   She is survived by two devoted daughters, Donna (Reginald) Destree of Madison and Beverly (Melvin) Armbruster who are full time RVers.  Leona was born in Sparta, Wis., to Arthur and Rebecca (Roberts) Arentz, in 1925, the oldest of 12 children. She married Harvey A. Heuer of Bangor, Wis., in 1943. They were married 69 years at the time of his death in 2013. With her husband she was a successful dairy and turkey farmer in rural Sparta and then a bookkeeper for their cabinet business in Phoenix for many years.  She RV’d over most of the U.S. and Canada, visited Hawaii and toured part of Europe.  She also leaves to mourn her loss six devoted grandchildren and their spouses; Jill Blumer, Melissa Destree, John Armbruster and Kim (Tom) Raemisch of the Madison area, Andy (Shar) Armbruster of the Minneapolis area, and Mike “Reg” (Heather) Destree of Phoenix.  (She was so proud that all her grandchildren graduated from college.)  Leona is also survived by the following great-grandchildren, Thomas Blumer, Stella Larson, Samantha Larson, Derek and Olivia Destree, Tommy, Emma and Grace Raemisch, and Sadie and Maddie Armbruster; brother, Curtis (Bernice) Arentz; sisters, Carol (Ed) Kobernick and Joann (Bob) Stremcha; brothers-in-law, Fredrick (Sue) Heuer, and Robert Plenge; and many dear nephews and nieces. Grave side services will be conducted Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at 12 noon at BURNES CEMETERY in rural Bangor, Wis., followed by a service at ST. PAUL’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Onalaska, Wis., at 1:30 p.m.  There will be a reception following the service in the church fellowship hall. Gunderson Oregon  Funeral and Cremation Care 1150 S.
