Obituary

OREGON - Joanne Marie Ripp, age 85, of Oregon, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Complete Care at Maple Grove (formerly St. Mary’s Care and Rehab Center) in Madison, WI. She was born on February 14, 1941, in Chippewa Falls, WI, the middle of three children of Clarence and Lillith (Curtis) Hebel.

Joanne married James “Jim” Ripp on May 15, 1965. Known to many as “Jo” had a beautiful infectious smile. Joanne was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker who loved baking and providing a meal to anyone who stepped foot in their home. She was well known for her homemade buns, cinnamon rolls, apple bars, applesauce and for her chocolate chip cookies, many believe she counted the chocolate chips that went into each cookie. Joanne enjoyed cheering for the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, playing cards in card clubs and bowling in bowling leagues. She also had a great love for music.

Joanne is survived by her loving husband, Jim of Oregon; her three children, Kenneth (Rose) Ripp of Hortonville, Carol (Paul) Welton of Brooklyn and Daniel (Gina) Ripp of Verona.

She was proud of her grandchildren, Nicholas Welton, Morgan and Nathan Ripp, and Zachary Janz.

She is further survived by her brother, Robert (Alice) Hebel of Windsor; in-laws, Cathy Niesen, Jerry Treinen, Harold Schlimgen, Vera Statz, Mary (Ken) Breunig, Dave (Eunie) Ripp; and many nieces and nephews. Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lillith Hebel; sister, Kathleen Nifong; nephew/godson, Randy Hebel; great-niece, Katie Morris; and in-laws, Albert and Mathilda Ripp, Betty Treinen, Agnes Schlimgen, Laura Mae Ripp, Marv Statz and Robert Niesen.
