Obituary
OREGON - Allen Clifford Riese, age 89, of Oregon, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at Oregon Health and Rehab Center. He was born on Jan. 10, 1932, in Mount Pleasant Township, Monticello, Wis., the son of Clifford and Hulda (Beer) Riese.
Allen graduated from Monticello High School in 1949. He married Virginia Denton on Oct. 4, 1952, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oregon.
Allen farmed in the Oregon-Brooklyn area. He was active in local and state N.F.O., Oregon Rotary Club and was involved with the founding of Community National Bank and the Genesis Housing Project. Allen enjoyed dancing at Park Ponderosa, Edwards Park and New Glarus Hotel.
Allen is survived by his wife of 69 years, Virginia; sister, Mary Ann (Don) Lutz of Cottage Grove; daughters, Laurie (Russ) Bentley of Lewistown, Mont., and Lynnette (Steve) Palmer of Verona; daughter-in-law, Janeen Riese of New Glarus; grandchildren, Cole (Carrie) Bentley, Holly (Kerrol) Evins, Luke (Sarah) Bentley, Emmylyn (Sean) Kepler, Caleb (Ellen) Bentley, Brian (Kelsey Sambs) Palmer, April (Kirk) Moldenhauer, Tayler (Jan Lewis) Riese, Brent (Kristi) Riese and Heidi (Luke Volden) Riese; 19 great-grandchildren; three nieces and a nephew; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Hulda; and son, Mark Riese.
A funeral service will be held at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021. Burial will be held at Storytown Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in Allen’s name to Oregon Health and Rehab Center, Heartland Hospice or a charity of your choice.

Allen was one of the most stable voice in all of my contacts during our days in NFO. He was an excellent farmer businessman. He loved his family. Mark was certainly a leader on the rise following in Dad's footsteps. Of course, Lynette is married to my first cousin, Steve. What a loss for all of you and all of the Oregon friends. To the family of Allen Riese. Allen was a wonderful man. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. While I never had any business dealings with him, I certainly had many,many encounters with him around town in Oregon and at his Grandkids sporting events. Allen was a genuine ,sincere person. He was a pillar in the Oregon community. May it be of some comfort to all of you that he was very well liked and respected by everyone that knew him. My deepest sympathies to all of you. Jim Snow
