Obituary
OREGON - JoAnn Helgesen, age 95, of Oregon, Wis., passed away on March 11, 2023, at Beehive Homes of Oregon. She was born on Feb. 1, 1928, in Blue Mounds Township, the daughter of Melvin and Ida (Friedland) Johnson.
JoAnn married Phillip Helgesen on Feb. 14, 1945, in Blue Mounds. They were married for 67 years and raised four children. She served in the healthcare industry for many years after obtaining a nursing degree in 1971.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Phil; son, David; and great-grandson, Joshua. She is survived by three children, LuAnn (Richard) Anderson of Fond du Lac, Cindy (Dr. Greg) Judd of Long Beach, Calif., and Pastor Steve (Vicki) Helgesen in Franklin, Tenn.; and ten grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
JoAnn and Phil were longtime members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oregon. Among other things, JoAnn loved family, friends, community, flowers (she always wanted to be a florist), card clubs, and her dogs. She enjoyed all Wisconsin sports teams, especially “her Badgers,” but her unfulfilled, lifelong ambition was to drive a snowplow.

A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2023. A celebration of life will follow at the funeral home beginning at 3 p.m. Interment will be private at Prairie Mound Cemetery.
