Obituary
MADISON-Marvin L. Campbell, age 94, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Sienna Crest in Oregon. He was born on Oct. 9, 1922, in La Farge, the son of Sherman and Ada (Dobbs) Campbell. He married Beatrice Lemke on May 27, 1944. Marvin was a Master Mason and past Master of Commonwealth Lodge No. 325, 32° Scottish Rite, receiving the Henry L. Palmer Meritorious Service Award Medal for outstanding contributions to the Scottish Rite in particular, and to Masonry in general. He was also a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a volunteer for the Fitchburg Senior Center. Marvin was a mink rancher for over 20 years, and worked as a nighttime security guard at Henry Vilas Zoo for 15 years. Marvin enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, traveling out west and spending time camping and at the cabin with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marvin is survived by daughters, Joanne (Gary) Geil and Jean (Jim) Sherman; son, Terry (Ida) Campbell; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beatrice; great-granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Geil; sisters, Ruby (Lester) Meiller and Rosemary Taylor-Grover; and brother, Eldon Campbell. Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017. A Masonic service will be held at the church at 9 a.m. followed by visitation at 9:15 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Wisconsin Dyslexia Center-Madison or St. John's Lutheran Church in Oregon. Special thanks to Sienna Crest and Agrace HospiceCare for all of their care.
