Obituary
MADISON-Helen Arlene Wood, age 86, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at UW Hospital and Clinics. She was born on March 31, 1931, in Madison, the daughter of Richard and Lola (Chamberlain) Brey. Helen married Hulet Wood on July 11, 1953. She was a clerk typist at Dane County Social Services Department and a member of Ridgeway Church. Helen loved to read and was up to date on many topics, often clipping out interesting articles. She was very artistic, and loved to draw, paint, and do calligraphy. Helen had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed participating in the activities at Frost Woods. She was a generous giver to her family and to everyone she saw in need. She truly loved her family and enjoyed making home cooked meals for them. Helen is survived by her children, Janis (Ron) McGill, Edward (Lisa) Wood, and John (Sondra) Wood; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald Brey; and sister, Jeanne Gordon. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Hulet. A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018. A private family burial will be held. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

We were so sorry to see that Helen had passed on. We did not get our newspaper from yesterday until this morning, so we are not able to attend the services. I (Judy Syftestad) lived across from the Breys in Daleyville for several years. They were special to us. We extend our sympathy to her family.
