MADISON-Dean L. Wilke passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at home. He was born on June 14, 1938, at St. Mary's Hospital. Dean was a 1956 graduate of Madison East High School. He worked for various state agencies including the Physical Science's Lab, Dept. of Administration, Dept. of Public Instruction and UW Extension before his retirement in July of 1993. Dean had many interests, including following the Badgers, Packers and Brewers sports teams, fishing trips to Canada, card games at the Grieg Club and his semi-annual "financial seminars" with good friends in Las Vegas. Dean is survived by his brother, Kenneth; and many cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton M. in 1975 and F. Louise in 1991. Per Dean's request, there will be no funeral services. Memorials may be directed to a charity of donor's choice. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Dean will be missed by many people. He had a lot of friends, including best buddy Lefty Benzschawel & most helpful friend Kathy Morrow. Dean was a long-standing member of the former Grieg Club and his many friends from there are mourning his passing. I will personally miss him for his kind words and sense of humor. Dean very generously left a bequest to the Madison Metropolitan School District's program for students who have visual impairments. We are humbled and surprised by the generosity. If any of his friends or family know about his connection or interest to students who are blind or visually impaired, we would gratefully appreciate learning more about this. We know Dean graduated from East High School in the 50's and worked for the Department of Public Instruction at one point.
