Obituary
MADISON- Hulet R Wood, age 87, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Heritage Monona. He was born in 1930, in Bloomington, Wis., the son of Clyde and Ethel (Pollock) Wood. He was united in marriage to Helen Brey Wood on July 11, 1953, and they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Huey was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 333 for over 30 years. Huey worked as a carpenter and ran a successful contracting business. He was an avid sportsman, who loved hunting, fishing, baseball and arrowhead hunting. Huey is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen; daughter, Janis (Ron) McGill; two sons, Edward (Lisa) Wood and John (Sondra) Wood; his sister, Joyce McGrane; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Burnell Wood, Monroe Wood, Gerald Wood and Jerome Wood; and sister, June (Robert) Slaght. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, July 22, 2017, with Pastor Bryan Peterson presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
