I grew up with the Wendts; their late son, Marvin, being one of my best friends (we met in grade school). Irene was also my crossing guard; for those of you who may remember when US Highway 30 did not overpass N Fair Oaks Avenue. She will be missed. She was always kind to us kids; even as adults. My thoughts and prayers to Wally and his family and to all of you related to Irene.
