MADISON-Jeanne M. (DuPuis) von Allmen, age 85, passed away peacefully early on April 18, 2017, the dawning of a new day of her eternal life. She was born in Baraboo, on Aug. 5, 1931, a twin daughter of Edmund J. and Eleanor DuPuis. Following her mother's early death, Jeanne was raised by her father, and the only mother she ever knew, Alice J. (Moyes) DuPuis. Jeanne grew up in Baraboo with her three sisters and five brothers. She and Paul hosted numerous family parties over the years. Most recently, Jeanne was a resident of Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton, where she enjoyed many family lunches, especially those with Joanne, Kathy, and Nola. Aunt Jeanne, some of my earliest memories of joining the Von Allmen clan are of you. My oldest and fondest memory is a family christmas get together at your home, gathered around the player piano and singing along. You will truly be missed. Gary and Karen, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a very kind and special lady.

I met Karen when we were both three years old when we moved in next to door to the von Allmen's in the 60s. Karen's mom Jeanne was always smiling and so welcoming. I remember distinctly one time when Karen and I wanted a snack so Karen got up on her kitchen counter and tried to get some cookies down. Here comes Jeanne smiling and says 'it's too close to dinner' but I got to stay and eat with them which was cool because Karen's dad Paul was also there since he worked a later shift. She made a big dinner in the middle of the day and her food was great. Another memory I have is when I went to visit their place in Deansville and she had just gotten new kitchen cabinets installed. She was thrilled with her new cabinets and talked all about them. She was a 'tough cookie'. Whenever I said I couldn't do something she would say 'oooooh yes you can - just do it!'. I'll always think of her as a strong woman who raised a strong woman. I don't remember a time when Jeanne wasn't smiling. The picture of her here says it all. Karina Jones
