Obituary
Madison - Jane Marie Voss, age 74, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 13, 2024. She was born Jan. 11, 1950, in Madison, Wis. Jane was the daughter of Virgil and Stella (Simonson) Hayter and grew up in Madison. She was married to John Voss for almost 44 years and was an active member of Door Creek Evangelical Free Church in Madison.
Jane will be remembered as one who sought to be a good and faithful servant of Jesus Christ, and as one who tried to allow God to work in and through her life to make a positive impact on the lives of others. She strongly believed that we influence positively or negatively "every" person whose lives cross ours and therefore her priority in life was to point others to Jesus. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and a doting aunt to her nieces. She was known for her strong faith in God, her outgoing personality, warm smile, contagious laugh and optimistic outlook on life. She had total trust in God and knew He had a purpose for her life. Jesus was walking beside her every step of the way.
After graduating from Madison East High School, she spent almost five decades working in the secretarial field, where she considered each job a "ministry" and appreciated the opportunities she had been given. In her free time, she and best friend, Kathy, took many road trips visiting antique shops. She never met a "mall" she didn't like. She loved to change out the décor on her front porch as the seasons changed. She and John enjoyed their dog, Nanuck, for nearly 18 years. They also loved attending musical dinner venues/theatre, annual Betty Lou dinner cruises to celebrate anniversaries, walks around the neighborhood and just spending time together. They "bantered" with each other every day and spent a lot of time laughing... Laughter really is the best medicine.
Favorite memories were the many Christmas Bake-A-Thons with her sister and nieces, visits with her son and family over the years, singing on Praise Teams, greeting at Door Creek Church, being a part of a women's Bible study, delivering food from River Food Pantry every week and delivering Meals on Wheels. She also volunteered during share-a-thons at the Christian radio station (Life 102.5).
Jane's Life Verses: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not onto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." - Proverbs 3:5, 6.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, grandparents, several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her husband, John of Madison; son, Jason Dell of Ohio; grandson, Liam (Faithe) Dell of Wyoming; step-grandson, Christopher Bailey of Iowa; sister, Judy (Richard) Frydenlund of Soldiers Grove, Wis.; two nieces, Tami (Paul) Johnsrude and their family of Soldiers Grove, Wis., and Tracy (Alan) Johnsrude and their family of Soldiers Grove, Wis.; as well as some cousins.
A funeral service will be held at Door Creek Church, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, with Pastor David Smith presiding. Burial will be held at Deerfield Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Care, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, and also at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
