Obituary
MADISON - Catherine M. Thompson, 89, of Madison, Wis., passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025. She was born on April 27, 1936, in Chicago, Ill., to Walter and Anna (Krzywda) Talik.
Cathy was a devoted daughter, mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and friend. She was deeply loved and will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, generosity, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
In 1959, Cathy married Robert G. Rudolph, with whom she had four children: Robert, David, Audrey, and Ruth. Robert Sr. passed away in 1972. In 1991, she married Troy M. Thompson, who preceded her in death in 2015.
Cathy was also preceded in death by her son, David, and by many other beloved family members and friends. She is survived by her children, Bob (Denise), Audrey (Wade), and Ruth (Jan); her stepdaughters, Patricia (Jay), Sandra (Don), and Karen; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her special nieces.
To Cathy, family was everything. She nurtured those bonds throughout her lifetime, instilling in her children a deep appreciation for love and connection. She found joy in quilting, sewing, laughing, sharing meals, and, most of all, spending time with her loved ones. Cathy will be deeply missed, but her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited with those she loved who passed before her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025, with Father Michael Radowicz presiding. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday.
