Mary J. Topel

MADISON/ WATERLOO, Mary Jane Topel, age 85, of Waterloo passed away on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Heritage Assisted living facility. She was born on July 6, 1931 in Waterloo, the daughter of Albert and Emma Topel. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. Mary Jane worked for Wisconsin DOT for 31 years. She truly had a green thumb, able to grow anything. Mary Jane enjoyed caring for her green house and her flowers. She was a passionate Badger sports fan and enjoyed tailgating. Mary Jane is survived by her sister, Gladys Schoeffel; nephew, Thomas (Debbie) Schoeffel; nieces, Nancy and Susan Schoeffel; step-daughter, Cindy (Mike) Moses; and many more family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; life partner, Duane; and brother-in-law, Arvin Schoeffel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or the Dane County Humane Society.
