Darlene Streber

COTTAGE GROVE - Darlene A. Streber, age 79, of Cottage Grove, was reunited with the love of her life on Monday, December 30, 2024. She was born on April 2, 1945, in Madison, the daughter of Wesley and Kathleen (Spangler) Gest. Darlene graduated from Monona Grove High School. She was united in marriage to John Streber Jr. on October 10, 1964, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

She worked for the Monona Grove School District in multiple administrative roles at the High School and ended her career at Cottage Grove Elementary School. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and growing flowers and loved to bake. She also loved to enjoy a good meal out. Darlene liked to sew and quilt. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.   

Darlene is survived by her sons, Christopher (Jennifer) Streber and William Streber; grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Talia, Ainsley, Addison and Jack Streber; sister, Diane Boland; sisters-in-law, Anne Brandt, Marcia Jacobson and Barb Streber; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, 434 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2024, with Father Mark Foley presiding.  Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday.  A Rosary will be recited for Darlene, beginning at 9 a.m.
