Joyce Stroede

MADISON-Joyce E. Stroede, age 85, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at her residence. She was born on Oct. 2, 1931, in Madison, the daughter of Carson and Agnes (Frisch) Freye. She married Eugene Stroede on August 25, 1950. Joyce graduated from East High School in June 1949. She worked over 30 years at Aramark as a secretery. She loved working in the garden, planting flowers and cooking and baking. Joyce was a strong woman, the rock and backbone of the family. She was the "go to" person for anything anyone needed. Joyce was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and very family-oriented. She gave good advice to anyone who asked. Joyce is survived by three sons, Michael, Scott (Karen) and Jeffrey (Cindy); a brother, Richard (Janice); three step-brothers, Randy (Kathy), Steven (Sue) and Kenneth Freye; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; lots of nieces, nephews and in-laws; and her special friend, Judy Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene; step-mother, Ann Freye; great-grandson, Kyle Hahn; brother, Robert; and daughter-in-law, Sherry. A Funeral Service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
