One of my favorite memories of Grandpa was when he came to Grandparents Day at my school. I think I was in third grade the year he recited The Raggedy Man by James Whitcomb Riley for my entire class. The kids in my class were in awe...they thought the poem was so funny, and they were all so impressed that he had the whole poem memorized. I was so proud of him for his memory, his charisma, and the way that my classmates loved him. I was especially proud that I was the only one in the whole class who could call him "Grandpa." I remember friends telling me that I had the best, funniest grandpa in the whole world. To this day, I concur!

Simply stated, John was as fine a man as I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
