Obituary

MCFARLAND - Cecelia A. Stluka, age 99, of McFarland, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at Heritage Monona. She was born on Oct. 5, 1924, in Seneca Township, Crawford County, the daughter of Charles and Anna Stluka.

Cecelia grew up on the family farm and attended a rural school. She graduated from Seneca High School and Vernon County Teachers College in Viroqua. She taught for several years prior to moving to Madison. She was employed at Research Products Corporation and remained with the firm for 33 ½ years until her retirement in 1986.

Cecelia’s dream of owning a home became a reality when she moved to McFarland in 1973. A lover of nature, she enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. On more restful days she loved to read, crochet, work on a crewel project or look up some genealogy. If the Badgers were playing football or basketball, she rarely missed the game on tv. Many weekends were spent at the farm helping her parents and brother.

Vacations were usually spent visiting the national parks throughout the western states and some in Canada. Colorado Springs and Durango were special places to visit. She also enjoyed spending time at the cottage near Chetek.

Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Kaup; brothers, Charles and Martin; and brother-in-law, Tilden Kaup.  She is survived by her cousins and several special friends, including Jan Severson and Kevin Walkske.

Per Cecelia’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service.

I was her neighbor and we became friends by talking flowers. She always was digging planting and moving bulbs. I have various irises colors that she gave me. Cecelia helped me through my grief when my mother passed away. She was always very kind and she will be missed. Ruth Webber
