Obituary
COLUMBUS - Donnie “Livewire” Strait, age 66, passed away on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023. He was born in Madison, Wis., on Aug. 22, 1956, the son of Don Archie and Dorothy Isabelle Strait. He was one of 14 children. Donnie spent the last 18 and ½ years with his partner, Beth Nelson, and pets that they loved dearly. He was a die-hard country music lover, along with fire pits and beer.
Donnie is survived by five sisters, Barb, Bernice, Nancy, Sue and Doreen; two brothers Dave and Terry; his daughter, Angela Rose; grandchildren, Karah and Adyen; as well as many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; six brothers, Don Jr., Alvin Ray, Chett, Archie “Butch,” Lloyd and Roger; and many other family members and friends who he loved.
A celebration of life for Donnie, along with others who passed before him, will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service on Saturday. As Donnie always thought of and cared for others, there will be poster boards on which names and obituaries of other loved ones may be added.
