Shirley R. Sperle

MADISON - Shirley Ruth Sperle, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on November 26, 1934, in Platteville, Wis., the daughter of Benjamin B. Bell and Mabel L. Newhall.

She married Hans Sperle on July 19, 1969, in Madison, Wis. She worked as a line lead for Swiss Colony for many years.

Shirley had quite the ‘green thumb’ and loved being in the garden to tend to her flowers. She loved to entertain with her husband and host dinners and parties. She enjoyed travelling, especially around the country for the Jim Beam Decanter Club. She was so willing to do anything for her children, whether it was cooking dinners, decorating, or remodeling new homes. She was very gracious and never afraid to try something new.  

Shirley is survived by her sons, Parker (Colleen) Sperle and Harland Kerl; daughter, Pamela (Roger) MacLeod; step-son, Miles (Deborah) Sperle; step-daughter, Eileen Mirza; sister, Barbara Lomperski; grandchildren, Charity (Dave), Sarah, Kristi, Erica, Alex, Andrew, Shane and Jason; great-grandchildren, Kelsi, Tessa, Dane, Jacob, Brady, Seaver, Sage, Trey, Lexi, Faith and Olivia; and great-great-grandchildren, Jace and Royce. She was preceded in death by husband, Hans; her parents, Benjamin and Mabel; sister, Donna Rae (Loren) Smith; brother, Keith Bell; and brother-in-law, Mike Lomperski.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. The visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
