Obituary
MARSHALL - Jennifer Jane Spencer, age 66, of Marshall, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, at University of Wisconsin Hospital. She was born on Feb. 16, 1956, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Kerwin and Ann (Allen) Spencer.
Jennifer was one of the original clients supported by Pathways of Wisconsin Inc. She enjoyed tasks at this program throughout her 44 years participating. Most recently she enjoyed working the shred route.
Even though she was nonverbal, Jennifer was able to communicate what she needed and wanted. She was described as a character at times because of her great sense of humor and ability to “play dumb”. However, Jennifer had a great personality and was also described as a sweet, determined, well-liked individual that demonstrated her love and care to others.
Jennifer enjoyed the simple things in life like playing with puzzles, swinging on the swing set or the feeling of paper rubbing between her fingers. She always wanted to be close to the action which is why some of her favorite activities were people watching and going out to eat at restaurants, especially buffets. Although her interests changed over the years from camping and swimming growing up to going on boat rides and sitting at home manipulating her collection of toys in her later years, it never took much to make her happy.
Jennifer is survived by her two sisters, Candice (Richard) Spencer-Dobson and Pamela Ascencio; brother, Terry Spencer; niece, Keena Spencer-Dobson; and nephew, Mitchell Spencer. She was preceded in death by her parents. A special thank you to Jodi Hansen for her years of support and friendship.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens at a future date.
