Staley, Fay N. MCFARLAND- Fay N. Staley was born Jan. 5, 1937, at home in Atlantic, Iowa, the youngest child of Floyd W. Norris and Ann L. (Gregersen) Norris. She died July 27, 2017. In between those dates, she enjoyed almost every minute of her life. She loved her family and friends dearly, and they were always first in her thoughts and deeds. Fay enjoyed all sports, as a participant and a spectator. She had been an avid, die hard Cubs fan since 1949 (an inheritance from her Dad, she always said). She married Richard J. Staley on Nov. 26, 1965. Fay worked as office manager for stock brokers for 15 years and for the State of Wisconsin for 25 years. She is survived by her beloved husband and dear friend, Rich. Fay is further survived by nieces and nephews, Deborah Meyer, Todd Sherlock, Ann Sherlock (Bob) Jones, Jon (Rosa) Norris and Nila (Clayton) Zanker; great-nephews and great- nieces, Gabriella Meyer, Jesse Meyer, Alyssa Pesklevi, Russell (Kim) Sherlock, Maggie Rose Sherlock-Jones, Jed (Mindy) Norris, and Jasmine Silivos; and great-great- nephew, Daniel Sherlock. She is also survived by her very special friend, Jackie Langetieg, Verona; her “grandson” of the heart, Matthew Hale and his mother, Sue Hale, Sun Prairie; and many, many other dear family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father (1991); mother (1993); brother, Dr. Jed Norris (2010); and niece, Nancy Jo Norris (1959). A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. In accordance with her wishes, her body will be cremated, and her ashes will be scattered at a later date. Please think happy thoughts of her and have a piece of chocolate in her memory. Dear Fay, you are home now. I know your parents and friends were there to help you with the transition and especially I know my son, Jason, was there. You were so loving and care-giving to him in his early formative years and we appreciate every high standard you taught him. He never stopped thinking of you as a loving influence on his life. We will miss you but know we will see you again.
