Obituary
MARKESAN - Patricia A. Schulz, age 97, of Markesan, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Markesan Residence Home. She was born on March 11, 1928, at Lake Farm, rural Markesan, Wis., the daughter of Edwin and Luella (Welk) Schulz.
Patricia graduated from Markesan High School and University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught at Markesan, Appleton, Hawthorne and Lakeview schools in Madison, retiring in 1989.
Pat liked reading, crafting, gardening, following the UW Badgers Men and Women Big Ten and the Milwaukee Brewers. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Pat was a very active member of Bashford United Methodist Church in Madison, serving on many committees and also served as a lay member to Wisconsin Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Patricia is survived by her brother, Donald Schulz of Beaver Dam; sister-in-law, Joyce Schulz; nieces, Lynnette (James) Lieske of Shawano, Robin (Dan) Gelinskey of Markesan and Wendy (Steve) Thoe of Green Bay; nephews, Larry Schulz of Markesan, Scott (Diana) Schulz of Markesan, Randy (Judy) Schulz of Markesan, Dean (Julie) Schulz of Waupun, Daniel (Linda) Schulz of Prescott, Ariz., Richard Schulz of Hagerstown, Md.; great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; friend, Helen Glewen; and many other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Luella; brother, Willis (Phyllis) Schulz, Austin Schulz and James (Pat) Schulz; sister-in-law, Rosemary Schulz; nephew, Howard Schulz; and great-nephew, Joshua Schulz.
A funeral service will be held at MARKESAN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 74 E. Catherine St., Markesan, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, with Pastor Joseph Christopher presiding. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, and also at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
