Obituary
MADISON-Hazel Beth Schuster, age 95, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on July 20, 1921, the daughter of Ray and Flora (McNeal) Sackett in Pine Island, Minn. Hazel graduated from Kasson High School, Kasson, Minn., and St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester Minn. She married Maynard B. Schuster on March 1, 1947, following discharge as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. Hazel worked as a registered nurse for Monona Grove Clinic and was a page for the Monona Library. She was an avid reader, sewer and quilter and an excellent cook. Hazel is survived by; daughters, Patrice (Rick) Lapp and Pamela (Jerry) Offerdahl; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Schuster; grandsons, David (Whitney) Dirks-Schuster and Dylan Lapp; granddaughters, Emily (Jaromy) Calvert, Erin (Jason Bittrick) Offerdahl, Kelsey Offerdahl, Ryan (Travis) West, Jordan (Charles) Kostlevy and Kellen Lapp; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maynard in Nov. 1988; son, Robert in Sept. 2016, and brother, Donald Sackett. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr. at 3 p.m. on Monday Jan. 16, 2017, with a reception to follow. Private burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Memorials may be made to Prader Willi Association of Wisconsin or Agrace HospiceCare. The family would like to give special thanks to Agrace HospiceCare for their compassionate care, the Parkside Assisted Living community that embraced her in her last six months of life, and to her friends that were so very important to her.
