MADISON-Elizabeth A. "Betty" Sabroff, age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016. Betty was born on March 9, 1921, in the Town of Burke, the daughter of Henry and Elsie Thompson. Betty graduated from Madison Central High School. She was united in marriage to Alvin Sabroff on Jan. 6, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa. They were blessed with two boys and a girl. During the war, she worked at a dry cleaners store at Truax Field. Later when her children were grown, she was the hot lunch lady at Franklin Elementary School, where her husband was the custodian. Betty enjoyed crocheting and donated hundreds of afghans to hospitalized children. Each family member has their own cherished afghan. Betty was a Christian woman who was devoted to her family. She enjoyed playing Euchre, and organized many card games. Betty is survived by her children, Robert (Elizabeth) Sabroff, Larry (Merita) Sabroff and Linda Douglass; grandchildren, Mark Sabroff, Kevin (Bobbie Jo) Sabroff and Justin (Jackie) Douglass; six great-grandchildren, Amanda (Arjun) Prathivadi; Tyler, Austin, Alyssa Sabroff; Camren and Colten Douglass; great-great-granddaughter, Ava Marie Prathivadi; and many other loving relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin, in 1997; and two brothers and a sister. A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
