Margaret Sam

MONONA/McFARLAND-Margaret Mary Sam, age 91, of Monona, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Agrace HospiceCare, with her family by her side. She was born on April 30, 1926, in Buffalo County, Wis., the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Fedie) Falkner. Margaret married Carl Sam on Oct. 11, 1948. Margaret worked hard all her life raising her eight children. She enjoyed spending time with family and traveling. Margaret is survived by her eight children, David (Pamela), Nancy (Paul) Cranley, Gary (Susan), James (Pamela), Ronald (Carol), Laurel (Steve) Sly, Lois (Jessy) Hintz and Lisa (Tom) Gries; grandchildren, Kevin, Jerry (Kristy) and Eric Sam, Kristine, Brian (Amy) and Matthew Cranley, Marie (Joseph) Flanigan, Jessica (Stephan) Esser, Jared and Jacob Sam; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Katie, Quinn, Maxwell, Abigail, Annalise, John, William, Samantha and Ivan; four brothers and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her great-grandchild, Bennet Flanigan; her parents; three brothers and one sister. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018, with Father Chad Droessler presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 with a reading of the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and again at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass on Thursday. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Agrace HospiceCare.
