Obituary
OREGON - Steven Ray “Steve” Rowin, age 73, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at Oregon Health and Rehab. He was born on Dec. 17, 1950, in Madison, Wis., the son of Raymond Jr. and Marilyn (Denton) Rowin.
Steve graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1969. He married Marcia Rinden on Oct. 25, 1974, in Monona and the couple became inseparable.
In 2012, Steve and Marcia were in a motorcycle accident in South Dakota. This accident took Marcia’s life and left Steve with a traumatic brain injury. He spent the last 11 years trying his hardest to live life the best that his disability and broken heart would allow.
Prior to the accident and for most of his adult life, he worked for UW-Madison Charter Street Heating Plant. He was a member of Sauk Prairie HOG Chapter and enjoyed Poker Runs and riding with friends, especially Jim and Alice Follett. In his free time, Steve loved spending time with family and friends, searching for and collecting Hot Wheels (especially the rare collections), attending car shows and swap meets, and watching WWE. He had the greenest of thumbs and liked growing and maintaining lovely flower gardens.
Steve is survived by his daughters, Lori (Matt) Mayer and Lisa (Mike) Hall. He was a proud Gege to Iesha (Dakoda) Brahmer, Miah and Rowin Hall, and Chesney and Jackson Mayer. Steve adored his great-grandsons, Corbin and Brayden Brahmer. His strong values and morals, along with dedication to family and friends, influenced many lives including those of his nieces, Dottie Patterson and Kara Erdman.
In addition to his immediate family, those who grieve his passing include his mother, Marilyn; brothers, Herb (Cathleen) Rowin and Leonard Rowin; sisters, Judy (Tom) Clayton, Carol (Steve) Vernig and Cathy Rowin; brother-in-law, Scott (Jennifer) Rinden; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, LeRoy; and his wife and best friend, Marcia.
