Obituary
MADISON - Dorothy E. C. Roth (nee Brockman), age 102, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy was born on July 16, 1922, to August and Agnes Brockman, in Wonewoc, Wis. She was the first of five children, all of whom attended a one-room school and lived on the family dairy farm. After graduating from Wonewoc High School in 1941, she cared for the Dahlke children.
Dorothy moved to Madison where she met Orville Roth. They were married on June 11, 1954. They built the home where they raised their four children and Dorothy lived in for 70 years. Thanks to family members and caring neighbors, she was able to stay in her home until her death.
Dorothy was a wonderful cook and avid baker. She was especially known for her pies and cinnamon rolls. She could accomplish almost anything she put her mind to - gardening, wedding cake decorating, sewing and fixing just about everything. In her 80s she took up traveling, including trips to Russia and Germany and many places in the U.S. Dorothy worked at Oscar Mayer for many years, working her way up to supervisor, and later at Kohl's Food stores where she shared her talent as a baker. When she celebrated her 100th birthday she was very surprised and grateful for all of the family and friends who attended.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Sonja (Jack) Collier of Cottage Grove, Wis., Gary of Madison, Wis., and Dale (Laura) of Madison, Wis.; grandchildren, Mandy (Rosny) Volney, Tony (Nina) Roth, Matthew Collier and Cassandra Collier, Alex Keevil, Michael Roth (Mary Wiklanski) and Jennifer Roth; great-grandchildren, Kiara Lee, Kalaan Lee, Franklin Collier, Nolan Roth and Alina Roth; and extended family, Lorri Roth and Brad (Leanna) Keevil. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; parents, August and Agnes Brockman; parents-in-law, Robert and Adahlia (Block) Roth; daughter, Nancy Keevil; siblings, and in-laws, Everette and Eleanor Brockman, Edward and Betty Brockman, LaVerne and Edgar Kaske, and Louise and Leonard Davidson.
The family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare for the wonderful care given to Dorothy.
