Patricia Reed

COTTAGE GROVE-Patricia Reed, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, following a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on March 14, 1939, in Plain WI, the daughter of Francis and Mary Bettinger. She graduated with the class of 1957, from St. Luke's Catholic School in Plain, where she lived a great deal of time with her grandfather, John McCluskey. After high school Patricia moved to Madison where she worked for Wisconsin Telephone. She met David W. Reed at a dance, and they were married on Sept 1, 1958, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain. Patricia and David began a real estate investment company, which she truly enjoyed. She also worked for the IRS and returned to school to take Real Estate classes. Patricia used this knowledge to manage their properties. Patricia liked quilting, knitting, crocheting, oil painting, and was an amazing cook. She also enjoyed fishing, skiing, spending time up north, traveling to Europe and throughout the United States. She was a member of the International Wives Association and a devoted Catholic. Patricia is survived by her children, Craig (Amy) Reed, Kim (Kevin) Jackson and David J. Reed (Yvonne); her grandchildren, Grant (April) Reed, Lucas (Amber) Reed, Paige (Sean) Knipfer and Karly Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Griffin Reed and Aria Knipfer; brother, Edmund (Sharon) Bettinger; sisters, Mary Francis (Richard) Nachreiner and Joyce (Joseph) Hoffmann; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; and son, Michael Joseph Reed. A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, 434 N. Main Street, Cottage Grove, at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday. A luncheon will follow the service at 1855 Saloon, 218 S. Main St., Cottage Grove. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or Alzheimer's Association.
