Obituary
MADISON-After 101 years of leading a Good Christian Life, Maurice R. Price made his final journey to Heaven on Saturday, May 4, 2019. He was born in April 1918, in Springvale Township, Wis., the son of Rowland and Hazel Price. Maurice graduated from Pardeeville High School with the class of 1935. During the war, Maurice began working at the Madison Bus Company. One lucky day, a beautiful lady, Lillian Gruber, as fate would have it, met him on his bus. They were married in 1948, and were blessed with 62 years. Maurice retired as a bus driver after 43 years of service. He also worked for the National “W” Club and the Dane County Coliseum for many years. Maurice and Lillian enjoyed square dancing, gardening, camping, spending time at their cabin in Eagle River and garage saling. Maurice was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for 70 years and a member of the Portage Yellow Thunder Ramblers, a chapter of the Wisconsin Campers Association. Maurice is survived by his children, Lynette “Lyn” (Bruce) Pauls and , Ron (Mary) Price; grandchildren, Norman "J.R." Smith, III, Van Smith, Scott (Stefanie) Pauls, and Kevin (Marie) Pauls, great-grandchildren, Randy (Jessica) Dahl, Sabrina Pauls, Natalie Pauls and Ian Pauls and sister-in-law, Sally Price. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian Price; son, Kenny Price; step-son, Norman (Nancy) Smith II; brother, Fred “Fritz” Price and sister, Jean (Royce) Becker. A Funeral Service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 with the Rev. Bernt Tweit presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. A special thank you to the staff at Skaalan Assisted Living, St. Mary’s Hospital 4SW and Agrace HopsiceCare. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Skaalen Chapel or Agrace HospiceCare. Maury I will miss you but I'm glad I got to know you and your family. Like I told you raised some good kids. Lynn and Ron you had a strong hearted father God be with you guys. Hopefully I can run into you guys and your family in the future, and someday I will be with your father in heaven

Lyn & Ron, was very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing from my Mom (Mary Ann Huemmer Hellenbrand). We would like to send our prayers & sympathy to you and your families. He lived a very full live. I remember growing up in the neighborhood and the activities at Wirth Court Park, camping and working together at the National W Club.......ohhh the memories which brings smiles to our faces. I truly believe your Mom & Dad are together now, along with my Dad watching over us and we'll see them again some day. Please take care. Donna

Maury and Lillian were my next door neighbors for 13 years. They were the kindest people with the nicest lawn on the block.
He was there to lend a hand when needed. He literally helped me climb up into an open window of my house when I forgot my key one day. Thinking back he must have been 82-83 helping 10 year old me break into my own house. Haha!
Also, when the weeping willow in my back yard had a large branch fall on our camper, Maury went and helped my Mom with the clean up, no questions asked. He was also just great for a nice chat.
Maury was a great man and is dearly missed. I think about him from time to time and while it brings tears to my eyes to think of the loss, I'm always comforted to know he was a positive part of my life.
He set a high standard for next door neighbors that most will not reach.
