Luella Olson

MONONA/WILLMAR, Minn. - Luella Sylvia "Lue" Olson was born on Nov. 5, 1926, in Willmar, Minn., and died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at Heritage Senior Living in Monona, Wis. Lue and her family moved to Wisconsin in 1956. They attended Mount Carmel Lutheran Church in Milwaukee where she and Randy made several good friends in the couple’s club. In 1968, they moved to Madison where they lived on the golf course in Cherokee Park and enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and getting to know their neighbors. They attended Lakeview Lutheran Church and Bethel Lutheran Church. When her children were grown, she worked at the University of Wisconsin in the business department. Several years after the early death of her husband, Lue moved to Frost Woods apartment in Monona, where she lived for 13 1/2 years and had many friends. She often said that was one of her favorite periods of life. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, wonderful mother and grandmother, ‘Oma’ and good friend to many she met in her long life. Luella is survived by her children, Merlaine (Rick) Zwartverwer of Klamath Falls, Ore., Jerry (Lom) Olson of Oakland, Calif., David (TJ) Olson of Cottage Grove; Steve’s partner, Robbi Dreifuerst; four grandchildren, Kara Kaefring, Luke Zwartverwer, Jesse Olson and Travis Olson; and four great- grandchildren, Maddie, Jack, Ellen and Fritz. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Susie Arntzen; her husband, Randall "Randy" Olson; and son, Steven Olson. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
