Obituary
MADISON- Mary Elizabeth Nuzback, age 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017. We will always hold her dear in our hearts. We will remember her for her radiant, loving blue eyes as she smiled brightly, her joyful presence and her spontaneous laughter. Mary loved telling jokes and wrote them down as her memory declined so she could continue sharing them with us. She sang freely and taught us to live each moment fully. Mary was a very devoted mother and family always came first. She was born in Schenectady, N.Y., where she met her husband Tony. Mary worked at the General Electric Company as a secretary and assisted with the bookkeeping for her husbands' business while raising four children. The family later moved to Madison and worked at Ohio Medical as a secretary and in Human Resources until her retirement. Mary was healthy throughout her life. She loved to jump rope and take regular walks. Mary was in a coed and women's golf and bowling league and enjoyed playing cards. She loved to go to California to visit her daughters and made her last trip at the age of 96 with her son accompanying her. After Mary retired, she joined the MATC Choir and sang in community choir for over 30 years. She was thrilled when her choir went to Rome, Italy to sing for the Pope in 1995. Mary attended classes in furniture and upholstery repair, cabinet refinishing and landscaped her back yard into her 80's. She loved cooking and gardening and had an herb, vegetable and flower garden every year. Mary only used the freshest ingredients for her meals. She was an excellent cook. Mary's famous lasagna was always in demand. After her husband passed, she lived independently at Westshire Village in Waunakee, remained active and met many wonderful people. When Mary could no longer drive, she moved in with her son, David and daughter-in-law, Sandy who provided her with loving care. She transitioned to The Good Samaritan in Lodi 2 years ago. Mary was so happy to participate in the multiple activities and music events. She was always positive and even as she declined in health, when asked how she was, she always responded "I'm A-OK." Here's one of Mary's jokes...."Well, Mr. Brown, what is the best thing about being 100? No peer pressure!" Mary will be dearly missed by her sons, Dennis and David (Sandy); granddaughter, Adda (Ryan); and great-grandson, Alex; her daughters, Bethena (Ron) and Marg (Thad); grandchildren, Ariel and Ted; brother, Tony (Nellie); and nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful care provided by all the staff at The Good Samaritan. I just love Mary! she had such a lovely energy about her. Ever time she visited Ventura she was full of love, stories, jokes and happiness to be here with Bethena and Marg. I'll never forget her telling jokes at my Talent Show in 2008. And being a mother of twins in her late 30's was amazing, we talked about that several times (I had my twins at 38). She amazed me with her tales of jumping rope 100 times daily for several years. Such a special woman, so happy I had time to enjoy her beauty and love of life. Much love to her wonderful family! Mary has a special place in my heart.

Momma Nuzback, I love you!!! Such a great women and her enthusiasm for life kept her living a wonderful 99 years. I remember her superb cooking and her green beans, ham and potatoes were heavenly! I remember her jump roping in the basement , golfing, singing and getting together with her friends to play cards. She had such an optimistic view of life and loved to dance with the twins and I in her house. She put up with us girls as well and that was no easy task at times either! Momma Nuzback would go to the ends of the earth for her family and for that reason alone, she's a star among stars. When I look up at the sky tonight I'll see her star, it'll be the one with the most sparkle and brightness!
Much Love Forever,

Our hearts are filled with such joyous memories of our sweet Aunt and Sister Mary. She sparkled with energy, love, fun and an immeasurable enthusiasm and zest for life!! We are so grateful for the times she, Uncle Tony, David, Dennis, Marg and Beth came back east to New York to visit. Those were precious times filled with laughter and joy. Over the years we loved hearing the stories our Dad would tell about the South Avenue days and times he spent with his sister and her family. She was very, very dear to him. Aunt Mary we just know you are singing with the angels and dancing with your beloved husband Tony! Sending love and prayers to you all. xoxo Brother Tony, Sister-in-Law Nellie, Ursula-Jeff-Matt, Anthony-Heather-Christian & Aniella. P.S.--Love this photo--Aunt Mary at 91 dancing the night away with us all at Anthony's wedding!!
