Obituary
SUN PRAIRIE - Gerald Henry Paulson, age 83, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023. He was born on Dec. 11, 1939, in Madison, the son of Henry and Agnes (Endres) Paulson.
Gerald graduated from Madison West High School in 1958 and received his associate degree from the UW Radiology School in 1960. He was united in marriage to Mary Neeson on April 28, 1962. Gerald proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965. He worked as a nuclear medical technologist at UW Hospital and retired after 34 years of service. After retirement he worked at NAGC&NL for 23 years as a genealogist.
Gerald was a former long-time member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and a current member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church of Sun Prairie. He was an assistant Scout Master and was very involved in Sons of Norway. Gerald enjoyed Norwegian baking, camping with his family, and traveling with Mary to Norway, Ireland, Germany, Mexico and throughout the United States. He loved sharing stories and teaching genealogy and to his very last day - he believed in Santa Claus.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Douglas (Nicole) Paulson; daughter, Lynn (Lucas) Cliff; grandchildren, Hailey Paulson and Madelyn Paulson; and many beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Agnes; sister, Darlene (Gene) Marrazzo; brother, Don (Pauline) Paulson; and niece, Jean Ann Marrazzo-Powers, and other in-laws.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALBERT THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2420 St. Albert Drive, Sun Prairie, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, and also at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday. Private burial will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens.
