Gloria Noble

MADISON/WAUNAKEE- Gloria Jeanette "Tracey" Noble, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017. She was born on Jan. 25, 1926, in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of Homer and Carrie Belle (Brauneisen) Tracey. She was united in marriage to Nelson "Duke" Noble on July 31, 1948 in Janesville, Wis., and he preceded her in death in 2009. After graduating from Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady, NY, Tracey earned her bachelor's degree from the UW Madison. She taught English for three years; and after pouring her energy into her family, Tracey worked as a Field Director for University of Wisconsin Extension for over 19 years retiring in 1980. She was a charter member of Door Creek Church and both the Zeta Phi Eta and Chi Omega Sororities, and enjoyed volunteering and helping at Belmont Nursing Home. She loved watching horse races, and was an avid sports fan, enjoying many Badgers and Packers games. She loved reading a good book, and was a dedicated member of a book club. Survivors include her son, N. Carter (Carol) Noble; two daughters, Carla Noble, and Tracey "Neena" (Mel) Brandl; grandchildren, Rachel (Aurélien Barron) Noble, Allison (Edwin Burton) Noble, Abigail Noble, Luke Noble, Valerie (Pat) Marking and Joe (Jesi) Brandl; great-grandchildren, Felix and Marlowe Barron, Lily and Lacy Marking, and Maya and Macy Brandl; and sisters-in-law, Mary Jacobson and Ginny Tracey. In addition to her husband, Nelson "Duke", she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edward Tracey; son-in-law Eric Anderson; and brother-in-law Lloyd Jacobson. Memorial services will be held at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, with the Rev. Cal Steiner presiding.
