MONONA - James W. “Jim” Peckham, age 92, of Monona, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at Heritage Living Center, Madison, Wis., where he had been residing for the last five years. James was born on July 25, 1931, in Medford, Wis., the son of William and Erna (Neuendorf) Peckham. Jim was raised on the family farm in the Town of Browning, Wis. He worked as a mechanic at Neuendorf Transportation until his retirement when he enjoyed being outdoors fishing and lawn mowing. Attending the EAA Air Venture in Oshkosh was a yearly favorite.
James was united in marriage to Gloria Wimer in 1950 and they had five children, James Jr., Bruce, Don, Cindy and Margie. In 1965, James was united in marriage to Fern Dahlk in Dane County, and they had two children, Wayne and Caralee.
Jim is survived by his sons, Bruce Zauft, James Jr. and Donovan Peckham; and daughters, Cindy O'Flanagan, Margarie Murkowski and Caralee Koieczki. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria and beloved wife, Fern Peckham; son, Wayne Peckham; and parents, William and Erna Peckham.
Jim had a strong love for God and his kind, gentle, thankful spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, with Perry Pearson presiding. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens. Lunch will follow at the funeral home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
