Obituary
MADISON - Robert “Bob” Parkin passed away peacefully at his home in Madison, Wis., on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022. He was born on Aug. 14, 1945, in Madison, the son of Lawrence “Shorty” Parkin and Gertrude (Stump) Parkin, at which time he sustained a traumatic brain injury. In spite of his lifelong disability, he enjoyed life to its fullest, both at home and while attending school in an inclusive environment.
Bob loved music from early childhood on and could be found playing records for hours and singing words to those tunes. He loved dances, dancing with his lady friends, dressing up for dates and holiday parties, bowling, watching sports, dining out at local burger places, summer camp with cookouts and fishing, to name a few of his favorites.
Bob is survived by his sister, Pat (William) Pomplin; his cousins, Bette Parkin and Phillip Broderick; cousins-in-law, Pamela Parkin and Gary Kahl; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Gertrude; and many dear aunts, uncles and cousins.
His family thanks MARC West for their many years of involvement in his community activities. They also thank CLC for its decades of supportive home care. CLC’s compassionate, loving staff watched over him tirelessly, assisting him even in his final days, thus allowing him to remain in his home. Thank you all.
A celebration of Bob’s life is planned for Aug. 14, 2022. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
