Alfreida "Trudi" Freitag

MCFARLAND - Trudi (O'Rourke) Freitag, age 72, of McFarland, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021. She was born on Nov. 26, 1948, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Howard O’Rourke and Rosemary Rudy. Trudi graduated from Adams-Friendship High School and then came to Madison to study art and writing at MATC. Ultimately, she met soon-to-be husband, Robert Freitag. Trudi focused on raising and taking care of her family. Her greatest joys in life were her boys and those lucky enough to be considered family. Trudi loved to cook and bake, especially her famous french silk pie. Her favorite color was red, specifically bright fire engine red. Trudi loved fast cars and had a lead foot of her own. Her sense of humor will be missed. Trudi was a charitable selfless woman, always giving to those in need or want. She often gave her last dollar to a panhandler knowing they needed it more than her. She was always kind and caring to those who knew her or came to know her; even opening her home to homeless people in need many years ago. Trudi is survived by her two sons, Gary (Tia) Fulmer and Sean (Christina) Fulmer; two grandsons, Tyler Fulmer and Austin Fulmer; and brother, Ronnie O'Rourke. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cathleen O'Rourke; brother, John O'Rourke; and ex-husband, Robert “Bob” Freitag. A graveside service will be held at SUNSET MEMORY GARDENS, 7302 Mineral Point Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021. All are welcome to celebrate Trudi’s life with the family. With deepest gratitude to the doctors, Wisconsin Dialysis and Mary Anne’s Elder for giving us many more years with this wonderful lady than we could have ever expected.
