Obituary

MADISON - Adeline A. "Peg" Neuhengen, age 95, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on April 10, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Karol and Veronica (Ciscon) Jurcazak.


After Peg graduated from high school, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. When Peg made Madison her home and raised her sons, she worked in the supply department for GTE in Sun Prairie, for many years before retiring.


Peg was a devoted Catholic throughout her life. She would faithfully say her prayers every morning before work, praying for everyone to make it home safely. Peg loved the chaos when her children were young, and the time spent with her family. She enjoyed traveling with her cousins and they affectionately called their trips, “the girls venture." They would travel throughout the United States and to Europe, or anywhere they thought sounded exciting.


Peg enjoyed having a good time. She loved to dance, and was always tell the story of how she danced with Jimmy Dean at the Wagon Wheel in Washington D.C. during her time in the Navy. She loved going to the YMCA with her friend, Sonja, and Peg continued to go well into her 90s, where she loved socializing with everyone.


Peg enjoyed knitting, painting ceramics and reading, spending hours at the library selecting her next book. She was also a talented oil painter and had taken classes to gain more skills. Peg proudly displayed her oil painting of a bull fighter that was on her living room wall for many years.


Peg is survived by her sons, Richard (Patty Smith) Neuhengen, Donald (Sarah) Neuhengen and Micheal (Kathy) Neuhengen; grandchildren, Tyler Neuhengen, Jonas Neuhengen and Eagen Neuhengen; and great-grandson, Alex Neuhengen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Karol and Veronica; and siblings, Terry (Frank) Slifka and Alex Jurcazak.

I worked with Peg for many years at GTE/Verizon. She was a gem and more like a mother to me and it's ironic she passed on mother's birthday on February 16th. She was full of energy and sunshine and always glowing with positive thoughts and words for everyone she was around. She loved her boys so much and was so proud of them. Rest in peace sweet mama Peg. I grew up on the other side of the block Kitty corner from their house. I would jump the fence and go hang out with Rick. So I’ve known Peg almost 60 years. Last time I saw her was to check her roof for hail damage. We talked for probably an hour maybe 10 minutes of that was about her roof. She was a very kind honest person. So sorry for your loss she will be greatly missed. ❤️
