Obituary

MADISON - Mildred J. “Millie” Nechuta of Madison, Wis., was called home by her heavenly father. She passed peacefully at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge on January 11, 2025.  She was born on July 29, 1927, in Madison, to George A. and Catherine G. (Paterson) Anderson.

Millie worked for 43 years in Jewelry sales and retired in 2003 from Condon Jewelers. In her retirement, she enjoyed taking cruises, was a former member of the Madison Rose Society and won various awards for showing her roses. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She loved the Lord and going to church. She was a person of service, always there for neighbors, family and friends. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them.

Millie is survived by her son, Gary (Sue) Nechuta of Sun Prairie; grandson, Aaron; granddaughter, Lindsey; and the light of her eye, great-granddaughter, Remi Mae Nechuta. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Catherine Anderson; brothers, Stanley (Gerry) Anderson and Rodney (Monica) Anderson; sisters, Delores (Bud) Steinbeck, Imogene (Donald) Handel, Betty (Mike) Cunningham, Alice Anderson and Carol Mae Anderson; and an infant brother who passed away shortly after birth.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Burial will take place at Cottage Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

Millie’s family wishes to thank the many wonderful staff at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge and Agrace HospiceCare for their care and support.

John 14:1-3 Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that where I am, there you also will be.

You told me many times after my parents passed, that they would want you to watch over me. You did a tremendous job! Thank you for all your love, guidance and wisdom all these years! The only thing that you did not prepare me for, is how to live without you. You will be missed so much Aunt Millie and forever loved. Barb Schwartzman & Jim Meyers

Millie had a strength that was contagious! I meet Millie in the exact moment that I needed to. I was going through the lowest point of my life. She helped lift me up and showed me that I could move forward with dignity and strength. I will forever love her. She is now in the presence of the Lord.
