The volunteers, flight team and board of Badger Honor Flight mourn the loss of their hero, Harvey Mitchell. We are thankful for his military service and proud to have served him on his trip to Washington, D.C. on May 19, 2012.

Uncle Harvey seemed like he was always smiling. He was quick to laugh and had a bag full of corny jokes. Growing up, I loved visiting him and Aunt Pat in Madison. He would greet us at the door, wrap us in a big bear hug and lift us as high as he could in the air. He continued that tradition long after I was an adult. Breakfasts at his house were great because he would make us a big stack of pancakes and there were always plenty of doughnuts for dessert too. Uncle Harvey was a patient listener and seemed to have an endless amount of time to hear stories about my children, career or fishing tales from my husband, Steve. I will miss his endless smiles, sense of humor and his wonderful, giving spirit. Heaven has another angel. Love you Uncle Harvey. -Connie
