Barbara Meisel

MONONA-Barbara Jean Meisel, age 86, of Monona, passed away on Sunday, Dec.18, 2016 at Heritage Monona. She was born on May 7, 1930, in Baraboo, the daughter of Wayne and Ruth (McLean) Jessop. She grew up on a farm and loved animals. Barbara married Donald Meisel on Dec. 2, 1950. She was a long time member of Lake Edge Lutheran Church. Barbara was a homemaker and loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed playing cards while having a beer. She also enjoyed collecting plates, figurines, and beanie babies. Barbara was a very kind and giving person and dedicated to her family. She was a loving, supportive and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Barbara is survived by her husband, Donald; children, Vicki (Mark) Ytzen, Gary (Barbara) Meisel, Donald (Patti) Meisel, Jerry (Phillis) Meisel, and Sandy (Mike) Housel; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Donna (Jack) Ellis; She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Ruth Jessop; and mother and father-in-law, George and Grace Meisel. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, with Rev. Katya Ouchakof presiding.
