Dorothy E. Meiers

McFARLAND/COTTAGE GROVE-Dorothy E. (Paxton) Meiers, age 83, a resident of Aster Memory Care in Cottage Grove, went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016. She was born on Nov. 28, 1932, in Illinois, the daughter of Dale and Lizzetta (Kohn) Paxton. Dorothy married Robert Meiers on Jan. 20, 1951, in Red Oak, Ill. She was an active member of Door Creek Church, where she was previously on the committee for seniors, taught Sunday school and worked with Awana. Dorothy enjoyed playing the piano and she lovingly cared for her family. In her earlier years, Dorothy drove a van for disabled school children. She was also employed with Centre Pharmacy in McFarland. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Sally Meiers of Madison and Cheryl (John) Reimer of Aurora, Ill.; two grandchildren, Brooke and Ashton Reimer; a sister, Shirley (Merle) Rudisill of Freeport, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ethel; and brother, Howard. Funeral services will be held at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Dr., Madison, at 11:00 a.m., on Wed., Nov. 9, 2016, with the Rev. Cal Steiner presiding. Burial will be at McFarland Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr. from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m. on Tues. Nov. 8, 2016 and at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
