Through my long friendship with her oldest son, I came to know Joan as a youth and, for better or for worse, she got to know me 😇. In all those years, I cannot recall an interaction where she didn’t respond with a quick smile or a hearty laugh, and often a good-natured barb at my expense. But my fondest memory of Joan will forever be of her seated in the bleachers of various Madison ballparks, a faithful fan rooting on the softball teams for which Steve and I played, delighting in our victories, and occasionally rolling her eyes at the antics of a bunch of 40 & 50 year-old teenagers. What a lucky stroke to have known such a warm and wonderful woman.

I was so surprised to hear of Joan’s passing and very sad. I remember so many fun times at their house when our families were together and sharing funny stories. Joan was a great seamstress and made beautiful outfits for her family.Joan was funny, sweet and very carrying and very loving towards others. She was a great wife and mother and was always there for them. She will be truly missed by everyone who knew her. My thoughts and prayers and my love goes out to the family. May our Lord bless you in your time of need. With Sincere Sympathy, Joanne Blackwell
