Obituary
MADISON-Roxsceina Estella "Roxy" Martin, age 99, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Madison Pointe Senior Care. She was born on June 22, 1918, in Madison, the daughter of Earl and Alta (Sailor) Sheldon. Roxy married Roland Martin on July 16, 1938, at Eastside Evangelical Lutheran Church. Roland passed away on Oct 6, 1991. Roxy was employed with Oscar Mayer foods for over 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and attending all of her family's sporting events. Family was very important and she was especially fond of the time spent with them. Roxy is survived by her three sons, Earl Martin, Roger (Judy) Martin, and Sherman (Judy) Martin; 16 grandchildren, Pam (Bob), Diana, Mike, Patty (John), Michele (Chad), Tammy (Samuel), Hilary, B.J., Cory, Jonathan, Hal (Jacob), Tiaunta, Kyle, Brandon, Manual, and Derra; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her special cousins, Jane Hewitt and Sharon (Don) Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Roland; her parents; five brothers; and four sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, with Rev. Nathan Berg presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. I feel the loss of you being gone. You were not my Mother-in-Law, you were my Mother. For those that don't get along with their Mother-in-Law, I feel sorry for you. She lived with us for 15 years and always was loving and gracious. She never ceased to tell us how grateful she was for our care of her. We always told her it was just "pay backs" for all that she did for us over the years. It was the least we could do for her. I hope that she taught me to just one half of the Mother and Grandmother that she was..... Until we meet again Mom
