Obituary
MADISON - Judith Lucille “Judy” Lerdahl met Jesus face to face on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison. She was born on Oct. 27, 1934, in Black River Falls, to Reverend Arvid and Lucille Romstad, and later moved to Evansville.
Judy was part of a big, wonderful and caring family. She was a “spunky” preacher's kid, and had a great sense of humor. She laughed easily and would often say “aren’t I fun?!” and “I’m so fun!” :) Everyone who knew her loved her. She brought joy to her family and caregivers over the years. Her grandchildren adored her and she made them all feel special.
Judy played the piano and was in choirs most of her life. At St. Mary’s Care Center, her home since October 2019, she blessed others with her singing.
Judy is survived by her children, Greg (Laurie), Jeff (Sara) and Kathy (Kevin) Holan; 11 grandchildren, Tami Stueber, Joe (Jason Poirier) Holan, Dan Lerdahl, Kaia Ackerman, Jim (Megan) Lerdahl, Angela (Adam) Brager, David (Kaitlyn) Lerdahl, Michael (Chelsey) Lerdahl, Kate (Kyle) Carpenter, Tim (Kate) Holan and John (Ali) Lerdahl; 12 great-grandchildren, Linda, Liliana and Jocelyn Ackerman, Trenton Taylor, Hannah Lerdahl, Grace, Liam and Jack Brager, Aubrey, Benjamin and Rosalie Lerdahl, and Emmett Carpenter; siblings, Alice (Mike) Pauls, Karl (Connie) Romstad and David Romstad; and many nieces and nephews. Her brother, Charles Romstad; sisters-in-law, Judith Romstad and Martha Romstad; and former husband, David Lerdahl preceded her in death.
She leaves us with many great memories, for which we are forever grateful. She had a happy, contagious smile that we will dearly miss.
Our deepest gratitude is extended to the best staff in the world at St. Mary’s Care Center. The Wingra staff and activities crew loved and cared for our mom and have been a HUGE blessing to her, our dad in 2017, and to us. We can’t thank them enough.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated in her memory to St. Mary’s Care Center, 3401 Maple Grove Drive, Madison, WI 53719 or to Alzheimer’s research. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

During the years she worked at the Police Sci Dept. Judy was a wonderful, wonderful help to me as a professor and then as a friend. She radiated joy as the receptionist and was always ready to laugh and to help. I am in her debt in many ways, big and small. I will always be grateful to her and for her. Booth Fowler

My sincere condolences to Greg, Jeff and Kathy and their families. The St. Mary's Care Center was my choice for placing my father, although he was only there a couple of days. I am glad she had good care there. The blessing is all of the special memories everyone has to cherish now. Her soul lives on ...
