Following her passing in 1983, Nobert remarried Vera Allen with whom he spent over 30 wonderful years. What can be said about ‘Norb’ that hasn’t been said thousands of times before. To his children (Steve, Joan, Bob, Patty, John, Brian and ‘Tommy’ he was, ‘Dad’. The pillar of insurmounatable emotional and physical stability and a man who lived and breathed the true essence of what it meant to be Catholic, with Old Testament values. Norb most certainly set the modern day standard for honor and integrity, and as long as I knew of him his rules within were never meant to be bent, let alone broken. Norb ruled the home nest with courage, strength, honor, character and integrity, period. At the same time, there was nothing that Norb enjoyed more than spending time with family. My fondest memories are of Norbs laughter anytime there was a family get together or a small gathering (‘happy hour’) with with all the boys in the same room. To watch the pure joy in Norbs eyes as each sibling spoke was really something, it was truly special. But, as happy as I saw Norb was when all the boys were together laughing and story telling, that smile on Norb grew ear to ear when Joan and Patty walked in to join in! I can’t possibly imagine how proud Norb had to of been, of all his childeren. Over the years, many who came to know Norb knew of his unbridled passion to give back and donating time for others and of course donating hundreds if not thousands of hours back to his beloved St. Dennis Parrish. Giving back came natural to Norb as he didn’t give back to be acknowledged or noticed, he did it as a responsibility that he accepted as part of being Catholic and a true Christian....to that end and with regards to Norbs childeren, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Without question, Norbert Lex touched the lives of so many, yet, those who knew him best will always remember is generosity and strength of character and of course that gregarious, genuine laugh! You will never be forgotten. God Speed Norb! ~Tom (‘Eddie’) Zach
