Obituary
MADISON- David A. Lerdahl met Jesus face to face on Sunday, May 7, 2017, surrounded by family. He was born in Madison on March 29, 1930, to Albert and Lena Lerdahl, and was a proud lifelong east-sider. Dave graduated from East High School in 1948, attended Madison Business College and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. It was at that time he became a blood donor, which turned into a lifelong relationship with the Red Cross, lasting over sixty years. He joined his dad in the family insurance business at Reitan-Lerdahl in 1953, and retired in 1993. At age 14 he became a Chicago Cubs fan, and lived to see them win the World Series in 2016. He has been a loyal member of Madison East Kiwanis since 1958, and loved serving brats and hot dogs at Badger football games. His favorite place was our family cottage on Lake Wisconsin where memories have been made since 1952. He was married to the former Judy Romstad, and is survived by their children who meant the world to him: Greg (Laurie), Jeff (Sara), and Kathy (Kevin) Holan; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren (and another coming soon). He is also survived by sister, Mary Pryzina; brother, Tom (Cindy) Lerdahl; and many other relatives and friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents; sister, Susan; and her husband, Mark Weiss, Ed Pryzina, and Beverly Evers. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 18, at 11 a.m. at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago Street, Madison, with visitation prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Visitation will be held on Wed., May 17, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. With gratitude, we thank the staff at St. Mary's Care Center for the love and care given to our Dad in his final months. I had the pleasure of working with Dave during his time at M&I. I always enjoyed his visits,advice kind words and smile. He talked often of his family and how proud he was. Even though I had lost touch with him through the years, I thought of him and it always made me smile. May happy memories carry you through this difficult time.

for Kathy and family - My sympathy to all - I worked at Reitan-Lerdahl Insurance and knew David then. He was always kind and helpful. It was a pleasure to work there. I know Dave from the brat stand! My dad always got a kick out of him because Dave would see my dad coming and always remembered what he ordered . He'd have my dad's brats ready and let him skip the line. My dad always talked about him.
I ran into Dave years later when he was a courier. He'd come into my bank and we made the connection back to the brat stand from years earlier. He was a kind, wonderful gentleman who made an impression even in the most benign setting!
