Sandra L. Lehr

MADISON/DEFOREST – Sandra L. Lehr, age 68, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 6, 2017, at her home in DeForest. She was born June 21, 1948, in Stambaugh, Mich. the daughter of Eino and Sannie (Haapanen) Puska. She met the love of her life Robert Lehr at the Wisconsin School for the Visually Handicapped in Janesville and they were married on June 8, 1974 in Beechwood, Mich. Love was not blind to them. After graduating high school Sandy attended Beauty School and then Massage School. She was employed at Bell Telephone as a CAMA Operator and the Salvation Army in Madison for 17 years. Sandy's great pleasures in life were her cats, flowers, her family, and her many special friends and associates who helped her throughout her life. Sandy would spend hours outside tending her flowers and would often forget to come back inside the house. She loved to go places and had a great sense of humor. Sandy's tenacity in the face of her many disabilities was truly an inspiration to all who knew her.  Sandy is survived by her brothers, James (Janet) Puska of Iron River, Mich. and John Puska of Two Rivers; her sister, Maria (the late Orville) Jandrin of Manitowoc; her brother-in-law, Ron Lehr of Madison; her cousin Kathy Haapanen of Saukville; her nieces and nephews; as well as her many good friends and associates too numerous to count. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bob; brother, Gerald; and her sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Brandt. Funeral services will be held at BURKE LUTHERAN CHURCH, ECLA, 5720 Portage Rd, Madison, 53718 at noon on Friday, Feb 17, 2017. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Sandy will be laid to rest at Burke Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dane County Humane Society. Now you are at peace and a whole new person Sandy, no more pain and struggles. You saw the light of Jesus and all the beautiful colors of Heaven. Your beloved Bob and your kitties Tommy and Mitzi welcomed you. Goodbye our feisty and courageous little friend. You will always be in our hearts and we will remember you forever. See you later!
