Celestine "Sally" Lavik
July 15, 1936 - October 31, 2025
Obituary
Sally Lavik, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted servant of faith, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born on July 15, 1936, Sally lived a life marked by compassion, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith. She married the love of her life in 1955, and together they built a home filled with laughter, love, and adventure. As a mother to five children, Sally was the heart of her family with her unconditional love-always ready with a warm hug, a wise word, or spontaneous outings that turned into cherished memories.
Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own children to her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and doted on. She was a neighborhood Mom to many in the Waunona Way neighborhood and a foster Mom to a special few.
Whether she was babysitting, sharing stories, or simply offering a listening ear, Sally’s presence was a source of comfort and joy.
Sally’s deep faith guided her throughout her life. She was an active member of several church communities in Wisconsin, serving as a religious educator and lay minister. Her dedication to spiritual teaching and pastoral care touched countless lives, and her gentle wisdom left a lasting imprint on those she served.
Through life’s many ups and downs, Sally remained steadfast-graceful in adversity, joyful in triumph, and always anchored by love and guided by the Spirit. Her legacy is one of kindness, strength, and faith, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Sally’s life, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful life she lived, will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. A graveside service will be held at WEST BLUE MOUNDS CEMETERY, Blue Mounds, Wis., at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
