Phyllis R. Jorenby

MADISON-Phyllis Regina Jorenby, age 96, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at Sylvan Crossings. She was born on April 4, 1920, in Madison, the daughter of Ragnild (Sather) and Peder Bigd (Boyd). She married Clifford Jorenby on March 2, 1940. Phyllis worked as a supervisor for the State of Wisconsin in the Unemployment Compensation Department for 25 years. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Phyllis was also proud of her Norwegian heritage. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, pizza party's and gathering everyone together at the house for Christmas Eve. Phyllis was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother loving each and every one of her family to the fullest. Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Kay O'Loughlin and Shirley (Phil) Chase; three sons, Richard (Ginny) Jorenby, Dennis (Mary) Jorenby and Stephen (Danni) Jorenby; 14 grandchildren, John (Sue) O'Loughlin, James O'Loughlin, Julie (John) Kaney, Charles Chase, Christine (Mark) Kempfer, Carol (Russ) Schulfer, Michael Chase, Daniel (Cheyenne) Chase, Jeff (Michelle) Jorenby, JoAnn Jorenby, Robert (Megan Repp) and Ross (Jenelle) Jorenby, Nicole Jorenby and Stephanie (Dustin Behling) Jorenby; 17 great-grandchildren; best friend and niece, Betty Johnson; special nephew, Rodney (Vicki) Haak; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harry; sister, Shirley; and husband, Clifford in 2004. A Celebration of her life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE at 12 Noon on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, with the Rev. Susan Schneider presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. A private family interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
